What is i-WORK ?

i-WORK is a Thames Valley project funded under EQUAL, a European Social Fund community initiative. This funding is for intiatives which test and promote new means of combatting all forms of discrimination and inequalities in the labour market, both for those in work and those seeking work.

i-WORK is an innovative broad multi sectorial partnership across the Thames Valley led by Reading Borough Council.

i-WORK aims to promote life long learning and inclusive work practices which provide positive support to non-traditional marginalised learners and low skilled groups.

i-WORK is developing tools and methods to help disadvantaged groups into sustainable employment and tackle the barriers to learning, employment, motivation and self esteem.

i-WORK has 4 key objectives:

  • raise awareness of the benefits of social responsibility among employers,
  • develop a social recruitment company,
  • encourage the development of Jobrotation for the upskilling of low skilled workers,
  • access and develop career focusing/soft skill learning material made available in a virtual learning centre and other learning situations.
